Thematic Units

Personally, I LOVE Thematic Units~ Especially for the young ones.  'Thematic Units' are themed design lesson plans that follow along with each other ~ Example:  Caterpillar to a Butterfly.

For young ones I find that it is best to start out slow when introducing a thematic unit.  This way the students would be able to absorb all of the new and/or updated information at their own individual personal pace and learning style.

I would also like to point out that it is essential to use distinct age appropriate types of lesson ideas, different resources, and various approaches in order to assist within learning.  Personally, I prefer to stay somewhat away from the constant pencil-to-paper- "Directive Teaching" approach.  Notice, that I stated "somewhat" as this style is difficult to get away from ~ however, IT can be redundant for the children.

Don't be afraid of Creativity ~ especially when it is delivered from a child.

Let us all update and be resourceful together!!
